Crime scene visualization has always been a topic of discussion. Researchers continue to work their way to find innovative ways to decipher crime scenes accurately. In the present scenario, with technology advancing at a rapid pace, there is a rising concept of Mixed Reality (MR).
It is a combination of the physical and digital worlds, using various computer technologies to capture images and recreate a virtual 3D visual of the same. It can change the way crime scene examiners work to reconstruct the crime scene. It will be like creating a virtual world that is an exact replica of the real physical world.
For CSI's, it would be like placing trace markers in a virtual-world crime scene area. At the Leiden University of Applied Sciences, research is done on applications of mixed reality for CSI's.
In this webinar on "Mixed Reality for Crime Scene Investigators", a brief explanation of the technology is given, and a number of applications will be demonstrated using a direct video link with our HoloLens.
