During a crime scene investigation lab-based training, you will be responsible for tasks such as the collection and preservation of evidence, documenting findings, preparing reports, and assisting in reconstructing crime scenes. You may also work on mock crime scenes, helping to process and catalog evidence.

To apply for the training, you should be at least enrolled in an undergraduate degree in forensic science, criminal justice, or a related field. Basic knowledge of forensic science and crime scene investigation is helpful for a better understanding.

You will get to work on mock cases during your internship. You will learn how to collect evidence using sterile tools to avoid contamination and document, photograph, and seal the evidence. Preservation involves proper packaging and labeling, while analysis includes various forensic techniques to identify and interpret evidence.

The program will begin with an orientation covering lab safety, evidence handling protocols, and an introduction to the forensic techniques you will use. This helps you understand the expectations and procedures before starting hands-on work.

During the training, we provide you all the essential materials for the examination. If you need some additional things after completion of the internship, like the fingerprint examination kit, you need to pay an extra charge.

It depends on how long you enrolled for the internship. If you are registered for three months or more, you may have the opportunity to visit real-life scenes and assist experts. However, this depends on the organization and the confidentiality of the cases. Our training program includes mock cases and various case studies.

You will learn forensic techniques such as fingerprint analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis, trace evidence examination, and digital evidence processing. These skills are vital for interpreting the evidence you will work with in a lab setting.

After completing this training, you will receive a certificate of completion, which can open doors to further career opportunities in CSI. The experience and skills gained are highly valued in forensic science careers.

Lab-based FSCI trainings are structured with a mix of daily tasks, like evidence analysis, and learning sessions to understand forensic methods. There is a strong focus on practical application, ensuring you achieve specific learning outcomes by the end.

Safety protocols include wearing protective gear, following strict evidence handling procedures to avoid contamination, and understanding how to safely use forensic tools and chemicals. Regular safety briefings and adherence to lab guidelines are essential.
